چکیده

, Abstract Results of the laboratory reclamation of four sodic soils by the high salt water dilution method are reported. The exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) of all soils was decreased by leaching with solutions of decreasing sodium but constant calcium concentration. Although a final leaching with water of low electrolyte concentration (EC,, < 100 micromhos/cm) did not produce a rapid decrease in hydraulic conductivity, most soils did show an overall decrease in hydraulic conductivity during reclamation of up to 34%. .

A Practical Desalinization Model for Large Scale Application

Salinity of soil and water is the most important agricultural hazard in arid and semi-aridregions. In saline soils, yield production directly influences by soluble salts in the root zone aswell as by shallow water table depth. The first step for reclamation of such soils is reducingsalinity to optimum level by leaching. The objective of this study was to develop a practicalmodel to estimate wat...

The Appraisal use of Gypsum for Reclamation of Solin and Sodice Soils in Southern Khuzestan

Soil correction is one of the ways in agriculture lands development. The sodic ion alongside salin vocalizes the salin-sodic soil and cause divulge in plants growth. So necessary coure of action for the Soil correction by physical and chemical ways such as usage of calsium on the leaching is inevitable. In this study, area soils are digged from deep profiles of 0-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80 and 80-...

Investigation and Statistical comparison of the soil empirical desalinization models for salin-sodic soils (Case study: Khuzestan province)

Accumulation of soluble salts in arid areas which are similar to most regions of Iran is inevitable in soil surface and profile because of low precipitation and high evaporation. High concentration of soluble salts in soil profile caused severe problems for root water uptake thus plant growth stopped. Reducing soil salinity to optimized content by leaching and avoiding soil pounding must be con...

Risk assessment of hazardous impacts on urbanization and industrialization activities based upon toxic substances

A risk assessment study was conducted to predict the expected hazardous influence on the ecosystem resulted from urbanization and industrialization activities at Helwan area, Egypt. To achieve these goals, soils, plants and water samples were collected from Helwan area, and their total concentrations of inorganic contaminants (Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) and organic pollutants; such...

Solute Movement in large Soil Columns under different Water Flow Velocities

Soil-water flow velocity can be a major factor affecting ion movement in the soil matrix. The transport of both cations and anions and their interactions with soil surface affect many aspects of soil management such as wastewater disposal, saline soil reclamation, remediation of sodic soils, and soil decontamination (HENG et al., 1999a). Therefore it is important to understand the processes tha...
